Ultherapy prime

Non-surgical ultrasound treatment for selected areas of skin laxity.
Ultherapy PRIME uses focused ultrasound with real-time tissue imaging to treat selected areas of skin laxity. Results develop gradually and vary by individual; the treatment area and limitations should be assessed before treatment.
Insight Guide About Ultherapy prime

Ultherapy PRIME is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment for selected areas of loose skin. It may suit someone with mild to moderate laxity who wants a gradual improvement in firmness without injections or a surgical lift. It does not replace lost facial volume, remove excess skin, or guarantee a sharper jawline for everyone.

At Smooth Clinic in Bangkok, the published Ultherapy PRIME options range from 400 lines at THB 52,000 to 800 lines at THB 92,000. The right starting point is the cause of your concern, followed by the treatment area and a suitable plan. Buying the largest package is not automatically the best choice.

Is Ultherapy PRIME right for your concern?

A softer jawline can come from loose skin, fat, reduced facial volume, or a combination of these. The distinction matters: a treatment that tightens tissue will not necessarily solve a problem caused mainly by hollow cheeks or a substantial amount of excess skin.

Your main concernWhere Ultherapy may fitWhat changes the decision
Mild sagging around the lower face or jawlineMay improve firmness when skin laxity is an important part of the problem.Expect a limited, gradual change rather than the effect of surgically repositioning tissue.
A double chin or a heavy-looking lower faceMay help the loose-skin component under the chin.Fat and skin are different treatment targets. Tightening alone may leave the main concern unresolved.
Hollow cheeks, sunken temples or loss of facial fullnessDoes not add replacement volume.Compare volume-restoring options rather than increasing the line count to try to make the face fuller.
A thin face with little tissue over some areasRequires careful area selection and assessment of tissue depth.Existing hollowness makes preservation of volume particularly important; fat or volume loss has been reported after treatment.
Pronounced jowls or substantial excess skinMay not produce enough change to meet your expectations.A surgical consultation can explain the larger correction available, alongside its greater recovery demands and risks.
Expression lines, pigmentation or acne scarsIs not a general solution for every facial concern.Muscle-related lines and surface-skin problems need their own assessment and treatment choices.

For example, two people may describe the same concern as “my face looks heavier.” One may mainly need assessment of loose skin; the other may have prominent under-chin fat alongside hollow cheeks. A matching package size does not make their treatment needs the same. Our guide to the causes of sagging skin explains these distinctions in more detail.

Is there a recommended age, gender or skin type?

The manufacturer’s intended population includes adults across genders and skin types. Suitability depends on the tissue, health history and desired change, rather than reaching a particular birthday. Someone with little laxity may have no clear reason to start, while an older person’s options should not be decided by age alone.

What is Ultherapy PRIME, and how does it work?

Ultherapy is the treatment brand used with the Ulthera system; PRIME is its newer platform. In Thailand, you may also hear the treatment called “Ulthera.” It is a specific system, rather than a generic name for every HIFU machine.

The technology is called microfocused ultrasound with visualization, or MFU-V. Focused ultrasound creates small heated points beneath the skin, initiating a tissue response that includes collagen remodeling. This is why improvement develops over time rather than behaving like an injectable filler that adds volume.

Its DeepSEE ultrasound imaging lets the clinician assess tissue and contact with the skin while planning treatment. Seeing the tissue supports decision-making; it does not remove the need for anatomical knowledge or eliminate risk.

What do the 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm depths mean?

These numbers describe the transducers’ designed focal depths. They are not strength ratings. The deeper option is not automatically better, and a 4.5 mm focus does not correspond to the same tissue layer everywhere on every face.

Skin thickness, fat and supporting tissue vary across areas. The clinician selects suitable depths after assessment; using all three is not a requirement for a good treatment. The SMAS and facial support layers help explain the anatomy, but a depth label alone cannot establish a treatment plan.

Which areas can be treated?

The main facial concerns discussed with Ultherapy include loose skin beneath the chin and on the neck, brow position, and lower-face or jawline laxity. Each has a different goal:

  • Under the chin and neck: improving loose tissue, rather than promising fat removal or correction of every type of neck line.
  • Lower face and jawline: assessing whether laxity contributes to the loss of definition. PRIME has been studied in this context, but hollow cheeks and fat require separate consideration.
  • Brow: a lifting indication appears in the US device labeling. This is not a treatment for every cause of drooping eyelids or eye bags.
  • Décolletage: the US labeling describes improvement of lines and wrinkles on the upper chest, a different goal from facial lifting.

Ultrasound energy must not be directed at the eye, eyelid or inside the orbital rim. A brow-lifting treatment does not mean that the eyelid itself should be treated.

The current US instructions also list selected body areas, including the abdomen, arms and knees. Those overseas indications do not establish Thai registration or confirm that Smooth offers a corresponding body package. Likewise, the 400–800-line prices below should not be read as a published full-face, neck or body-area map.

How is PRIME different from original Ultherapy and SPT?

Both original Ultherapy and PRIME use DeepSEE real-time imaging. PRIME updates the platform, processing and display; visualization was not introduced for the first time with PRIME.

Point of comparisonOriginal UltherapyUltherapy PRIME
Core approachMicrofocused ultrasound with visualization. The same MFU-V approach on an updated platform.
Viewing and operationReal-time tissue images support treatment planning.A larger display, expanded image field and updated processing support the operator’s viewing and workflow.
Results and comfortA hardware upgrade alone does not prove a greater lift, less pain or longer-lasting results for every patient. The plan, tissue characteristics and operator still matter.

SPT means See, Plan, Treat. It describes a planning approach: examine the tissue image, select an appropriate plan and treat accordingly. It is not necessarily a separate machine generation competing with PRIME.

When deciding whether PRIME is worth the cost, consider how its imaging will inform your treatment and what change is realistic in your particular areas. A newer model name is less useful than a clear explanation of the problem being treated. The prices on this page are for PRIME; they do not imply that an original-Ultherapy package is currently available at Smooth.

Ultherapy, HIFU or radiofrequency: how should you compare options?

Compare the same concern and treatment area before comparing prices. Ultrasound lines and radiofrequency shots are not interchangeable units, and a larger number on an advertisement does not establish a more effective treatment.

OptionMain technology distinctionWhat to compare with Ultherapy
Ultherapy PRIMEMicrofocused ultrasound with real-time DeepSEE imaging. The value of tissue visualization in an individualized plan for laxity.
Ultraformer IIIA focused-ultrasound system with different cartridges; it does not use Ultherapy’s DeepSEE system. The exact device, intended areas, proposed depths and evidence for that plan, rather than treating all HIFU as equivalent.
Oligio XMonopolar radiofrequency with energy control and cooling.Whether RF-based heating fits your firmness concern and how comfort, area coverage and follow-up compare.
XERFDual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency with cooling and feedback features. The specific treatment plan and evidence; its RF settings cannot be converted directly into Ultherapy lines.
Thermage FLXRadiofrequency with cooling and vibration features. Its suitability for the same concern and area. This comparison does not confirm Thermage availability at Smooth.

Manufacturer specifications explain how the systems differ. They do not establish that one will give everyone the strongest lift, easiest recovery or least discomfort. A useful comparison also considers whether the expected degree of change is worth the total cost to you.

When might injections, threads or surgery make more sense?

  • Botulinum toxin treatment changes selected muscle activity, such as that contributing to expression lines. It does a different job from tightening loose skin.
  • Dermal fillers can address selected volume or contour concerns. They have injection-specific risks and should not be added simply because a device treatment did not meet expectations.
  • Collagen-stimulating injectables use injected materials rather than ultrasound. Products differ in their immediate volume effects, gradual changes and suitability.
  • Thread lifting places material beneath the skin to support or reposition tissue. Its invasiveness, limitations and recovery differ from an external ultrasound treatment.
  • Facelift or neck-lift surgery can address more substantial excess skin and tissue displacement. It involves a different level of commitment, recovery and risk.

A combination can make sense when there are separate problems to solve, but more procedures are not automatically better. Start with the concern that matters most and the change you would consider worthwhile.

How many lines do you need?

There is no reliable “full-face” line count that fits everyone. A line is a sequence of small focused treatment points. The count describes part of a treatment; it does not capture every decision about area, depth, placement or tissue suitability.

A sensible plan works from the concern towards the quantity:

  1. Identify the areas: a small area beneath the chin is a different request from lower-face and neck treatment.
  2. Assess the tissue: distinguish laxity from fat or volume loss and examine the relevant layers.
  3. Plan each area: choose appropriate depths and coverage while accounting for previous treatments and areas to avoid.
  4. Confirm the total: connect the proposed line count to the agreed areas, expected change and price.

For example, someone concerned about one limited area may need a different plan from someone with several areas of laxity. That example does not prescribe 400 lines for the first person or 800 for the second. Neither age nor face size alone is enough to select a package.

Smooth’s published price card lists quantities but does not assign each one to a fixed anatomical area. Use it to understand the budget, not as a rule that a particular package automatically includes the whole face or neck. More lines and more depths are not goals in themselves.

Ultherapy PRIME prices at Smooth Clinic

The following amounts are published on Smooth Clinic’s official price page (Thai), checked on 15 October 2026. All prices are in Thai baht (THB).

Published Ultherapy PRIME optionPublished priceAverage per line*

500 linesTHB 57,500THB 115
600 linesTHB 69,000THB 115
800 linesTHB 92,000THB 115

*The averages are calculated by dividing the displayed package amount by its line count. They are not separate per-line offers. A lower average price does not make extra treatment necessary.

The price card does not itemize treatment areas, consultation or clinician fees, comfort measures, follow-up, additional charges or payment conditions. Before paying, confirm the total for your agreed plan and what that total covers. Do not assume that “500 lines” means full face plus neck or that every listed amount includes numbing and follow-up.

The best-value plan is one that addresses a suitable concern and covers the intended areas with an acceptable expected benefit. If the main issue is missing volume or substantial excess skin, spending more on ultrasound may be less useful than choosing a different approach.

Who should avoid treatment or have additional assessment?

The device’s contraindications include open wounds or lesions, severe or cystic acne in the treatment area, active implants such as pacemakers, and metallic implants in the treatment area. These are different from situations in which evidence is limited or the plan needs adjustment.

The manufacturer has not evaluated treatment in pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, people receiving anticoagulants, or several conditions affecting healing or neurological health. Tell the clinician about your medical history, medicines and any implanted device. Lack of data should not be interpreted as proof of safety.

Treatment directly over fillers, mechanical implants or breast implants is not recommended in the instructions. Previous filler does not automatically rule out every facial area, but its material and location need to be considered. Mention dental implants and other dental work rather than deciding for yourself that they are irrelevant.

A recent laser treatment, thread lift, operation, active rash or irritated skin may change the timing. There is no single waiting interval that fits every procedure.

Do not stop prescribed medicines or take extra painkillers or sedatives to prepare on your own. The treating clinician should decide whether to proceed and how to manage comfort using your actual health history.

What happens at the appointment, and how long should you allow?

The manufacturer gives a general treatment-time range of 30–90 minutes, depending on the area. Consultation, skin preparation and comfort measures can add time. This is not a confirmed total appointment length at Smooth, so allow for the full visit when arranging work or transport.

A typical treatment pathway includes:

  1. Assessment and agreement on the plan: discuss your concern, expected change, alternatives, risks, proposed areas and total cost.
  2. A baseline for comparison: photographs under consistent conditions can help distinguish later changes. Consent for treatment photographs and permission to publish them are separate decisions.
  3. Preparation: clean the treatment area and use the agreed comfort measures where appropriate.
  4. Imaging and treatment: the handpiece and ultrasound gel allow tissue assessment before energy is delivered according to the plan.
  5. Review before leaving: understand the aftercare, concerning symptoms, contact route and when results will be reassessed.

This is a general description, not a promise that every step or photography service is included in a particular package.

Does Ultherapy PRIME hurt?

It can be uncomfortable. People may feel brief deep heat, tingling or sharp sensations as energy is delivered, followed by tenderness after treatment. Sensitivity varies between people and areas; a newer platform does not make the experience predictably painless.

Clinician-directed options can include topical anesthetic or suitable pain relief, alongside pauses and communication during treatment. The early PRIME study used comfort measures, so its pain findings cannot be treated as an unqualified promise about another person’s experience. Allergies, other medicines and medical conditions affect which options are appropriate.

Stronger pain is not proof of a better result. Tell the operator promptly about severe pain, unusual burning or eye symptoms. You should not feel obliged to endure an abnormal sensation just to finish the planned lines.

Can you work or drive afterwards?

Many people resume ordinary activities after treatment, but redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness can still affect how comfortable you feel at work. For a presentation, video call or public-facing shift, leave room for visible recovery rather than relying on “zero downtime.”

Driving depends partly on the medicines used. If a medicine makes you drowsy or affects alertness, do not drive; follow the prescriber’s instructions and arrange another way home. Fasting or an escort is not a universal requirement for ultrasound treatment, but any medication-specific instructions take priority.

When will results appear, and how long can they last?

Expect gradual change over weeks to months. An early feeling of tightness or a day-one photograph is not a dependable measure of the final result. Comparing photographs around two to three months is more informative than checking the mirror immediately after treatment.

A published PRIME pilot series followed 30 people at three Singapore clinics for 90 days and reported improvements in jawline and neck laxity. It had no randomized comparison group and was supported by Merz Aesthetics. It provides early evidence, rather than a guarantee of a particular lift, pain level or result for every patient.

Does one treatment last 12–24 months?

A fixed 12–24-month promise is not justified for every PRIME treatment. A separate small study of the earlier MFU-V system treated 20 participants, with 19 returning for the one-year follow-up. That longer follow-up should not be presented as if it were a two-year PRIME trial.

Results are not permanent, and there is no exact expiry date applicable to everyone. Tissue characteristics, the original concern, treatment response and ongoing aging affect what remains visible. One session may be followed by reassessment; it does not create an obligation to repeat treatment annually.

What if you see little change?

Start by comparing like-for-like photographs after an appropriate assessment interval: similar lighting, head position, expression and distance. Then revisit whether the treated problem was mainly laxity, fat, volume loss or a mixture, and whether the change expected at the outset was realistic.

Depending on that assessment, the next step may be to wait, adjust expectations, consider a different treatment or discuss further treatment. Automatically buying more lines can repeat the wrong approach. Any repeat treatment needs a new assessment rather than a promise that an additional package will correct the result.

What are the side effects and important risks?

Redness often settles within hours. In the manufacturer’s face and neck safety information, mild swelling typically resolves within 3–72 hours, while tenderness or bruising can last up to two weeks. These are reported ranges, not deadlines by which every symptom must disappear.

Temporary numbness, tingling or local muscle weakness can occur. The instructions describe typical resolution of these nerve effects within 2–6 weeks in clinical evaluations, while post-market reports include effects lasting months. New weakness should be reported promptly rather than watched without advice for several weeks.

Important reported complications include burns or blisters, scarring, pigment changes, fat or volume loss, and asymmetry. Voluntary post-market reports cannot establish a precise frequency or prove the cause of every event. Imaging and appropriate technique do not make the treatment risk-free.

Seek urgent medical assessment for eye pain or any change in vision. Do not wait for a routine follow-up or a chat reply. Contact the treating clinician promptly for severe pain, a burn, blistering or new muscle weakness.

If your face appears unexpectedly hollow or uneven, have it assessed against the baseline rather than immediately booking filler or another device treatment. Changes in swelling, weight and actual tissue volume can look similar in casual photographs but require different decisions.

Aftercare: skincare, exercise and daily life

After ultrasound treatment alone, many normal activities are possible if the skin is intact and you feel well. Adjust your routine to symptoms and the clinician’s instructions. A combined procedure can impose additional restrictions.

ActivityPractical approach
Washing and showeringUse gentle cleansing and a comfortable water temperature; avoid scrubbing tender skin. A blister or wound needs specific medical advice.
MakeupOften possible after non-invasive tightening when skin is intact. Wait if products sting, and do not cover a burn or open area with cosmetics.
Moisturizer and sunscreenKeep a gentle routine and normal sun protection. There is no need to add an elaborate new product routine solely because you had treatment.
Retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubsPause products that irritate sensitive skin and resume according to recovery and professional advice. A universal one- or two-day restart rule does not suit every product or person.
Walking and desk workUsually manageable when comfortable and alert. Medication-related drowsiness or concerning symptoms are reasons to pause.
Strenuous exercise, sauna and steam roomsDo not push through swelling, soreness or a burning sensation. Avoid extra heat while it worsens symptoms; use the specific aftercare advice for your plan rather than a fixed rule from another clinic.
Facial massage or gua shaAvoid strong pressure over tender or swollen areas. Massage is not a requirement for collagen remodeling.
Food and sleepNormal routines are generally possible unless medicines or another procedure require changes. Choose a comfortable sleeping position that does not press on sore areas.

These are symptom-based care principles, not evidence that every patient needs weeks of restrictions. If an activity causes pain or your skin is not recovering as expected, seek individualized advice.

How far ahead of an event should you plan?

Allow separately for visible recovery and for the slower development of results. An appointment a few days before a wedding or important photographs may leave too little time for either. Discuss the event date at assessment and plan in months when your priority is the developed result, without assuming any particular day is guaranteed to be photo-ready.

Can it be combined with filler, Botox, lasers or threads?

It can form part of a broader plan when different treatments address different concerns. The order and timing matter, particularly where treatment areas overlap.

  • New injectables: expert consensus recommends MFU-V before injectable agents when a same-day combination is appropriate. This is not permission to combine every product and area in one visit.
  • Existing filler: the device instructions advise against treatment directly over it. Waiting a standard number of days does not establish that every filled area is suitable, and Ultherapy should not be used as a method of dissolving filler.
  • Botulinum toxin: muscle-related concerns differ from laxity. Previous injection sites and the proposed areas influence the sequence.
  • Laser or other energy treatments: consider the treated depth, skin effects and recovery. Active irritation or injury should not be ignored to fit several procedures into one appointment.
  • Threads or previous surgery: the material, location and altered tissue need review before a new plan is made.

Choosing a provider and interpreting reviews

Look at the device, the person treating you and the proposed plan together. The manufacturer’s Ultherapy authenticity guidance recommends verifying provider training and equipment provenance, and confirming that real-time tissue imaging is used rather than a static demonstration image.

Check the actual clinician’s name, medical license and relevant training. A training-attendance certificate is not automatically a specialist qualification. Smooth’s doctor directory is a starting point; a clinician credited with reviewing this page is not necessarily the person available for your appointment.

Before committing, you should understand the proposed areas and lines, realistic benefit, comfort plan, total price and contact route if something goes wrong. Regulatory statements also need context: US labeling does not by itself verify the Thai registration or provenance of a particular machine.

What should you look for in before-and-after photographs?

Useful comparisons identify the original concern, treated area, follow-up interval and any additional procedures. Similar lighting, camera angle, expression and weight make photographs more interpretable. An immediate after-picture answers a different question from a photograph taken several months later.

Smooth’s Ultherapy PRIME review gallery (Thai) includes images labeled at two months, as well as a set labeled Ultherapy PRIME plus Radiesse Plus with immediate after-treatment photographs. The combination set cannot establish the effect of Ultherapy alone, and immediate images do not demonstrate durability.

Use these examples to discuss a concern similar to yours, rather than selecting the most dramatic photograph as an expected outcome. Missing line counts or treatment details should not be filled in by assumption.

Booking an Ultherapy PRIME assessment in Bangkok

Contact Smooth Clinic on 088-121-8888, through LINE @smoothclinic, or via the contact page. The clinic is at Times Square, Asoke, on the second floor, Room 215, near BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit.

Tell the clinic which areas concern you and whether you have an important event or planned absence from Bangkok. Confirm the appointment time, full visit length and how reassessment will fit your schedule. If you need the consultation and aftercare explained in English, confirm the available language arrangements before attending.

You do not need to choose a line package before an assessment. The aim is to leave with a clear understanding of whether Ultherapy fits your concern, the change you can reasonably expect and the total cost of the proposed plan.

Sources and evidence

Manufacturer information establishes device features and labeled guidance; it is not independent proof that one brand is best. Overseas labeling is not a substitute for Thai regulatory verification, and published studies cannot predict an individual result.
