Chin filler can add temporary projection and shape to a mildly recessed chin. Its suitability depends on your facial structure, the exact product and the change you want.

Insight Guide About Chin Filler: Results, Risks and Cost in Thailand

What can chin filler change?

Chin filler adds volume to improve chin projection and contour without surgery. This guide covers hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, which gives a temporary result. It may help a mildly recessed chin or a small contour imbalance, but it cannot move the jawbone or correct your bite.

A consultation should assess your face from the front and side, and while smiling. The aim is a shape that suits your features and preferences, rather than a standard pointed chin or facial ratio. Men can also be assessed; gender alone does not determine the shape or amount needed.

Is filler the right option for your chin?

Filler may suit a modest change in projection or volume when the underlying structure and tissue can support it. A very recessed chin, marked asymmetry, difficulty chewing or an abnormal bite needs assessment that may include an orthodontist or oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Chin projection, jawline definition, muscle-related width and loose skin are different concerns:

  • Chin implant: surgery can provide a longer-term contour change, with recovery and risks such as infection, altered sensation or implant displacement. Correction may require further surgery. An implant is not the same as surgery to reposition the jaws.
  • Muscle-related concerns: jaw Botox targets masseter activity in suitable patients; it does not add chin projection. Chin dimpling can also involve muscle activity and needs a separate assessment.
  • Loose skin: sagging-skin treatments, including a thread lift in selected cases, address a different problem. Chin filler does not remove a double chin or lift all loose tissue along the jaw.

Combining treatments is not automatically better. Each procedure needs a clear purpose, with its own risks and timing.

Which filler should you choose in Thailand?

Check the exact model, formulation and Thai-authorized use with the doctor. A brand name, firmness rating or overseas approval alone does not establish suitability for your chin. Ask to see the packaging, authorization details, batch number, expiry date and importer information before treatment.

For example, U.S. labeling covers Juvéderm Voluma XC for chin augmentation and Restylane Defyne for mild to moderate chin retrusion in adults over 21. Juvéderm Volux XC has a U.S. indication for jawline definition. These are specific products and indications; they do not confirm Thai labeling or Smooth Clinic’s current stock.

How many cc will you need?

There is no standard amount, and 1 cc cannot be judged enough from a photograph alone. The plan depends on your existing projection, tissue, desired change, exact product and any filler already present.

A very short chin does not necessarily need more filler; another approach may be more appropriate. Ask why the proposed amount is suitable and whether reassessment before any further treatment would be preferable. A package size is not a prescription.

Before treatment: what to discuss and when to postpone

  • Tell the doctor about previous filler, implants or surgery, medical conditions, severe allergies and reactions to lidocaine or other product ingredients. Some allergies are product-specific contraindications.
  • Tell the doctor about medicines and supplements you use, including blood thinners, steroids and immunosuppressants. Do not stop prescribed medicines yourself; any change should be agreed with the prescribing clinician.
  • Postpone injections if there is active infection or inflammation near the treatment area, including inflamed acne, a rash or an open wound, until it has been assessed, treated and healed.
  • Postpone elective filler during pregnancy or breastfeeding because safety data are insufficient. Bleeding or immune conditions need individual assessment.

Ask about pain relief, appointment length and follow-up. Numbing can reduce discomfort, but injections may still hurt. The choice of a cannula or needle does not remove the risk of a blocked blood vessel.

When will you see results, and how long do they last?

You may notice a change straight away, but swelling can disguise the settled shape. Bruising, tenderness and swelling can take days to weeks to improve, sometimes longer. Allow for visible recovery around work and social plans, and review the result at the appointment your doctor recommends.

Duration depends on the product and individual response. U.S. chin studies described in the Voluma XC and Restylane Defyne patient labels found improvement lasting up to about 12 months in some participants. Both allowed touch-ups after the initial treatment. These findings are not a guarantee for every patient or another filler model, and do not mean all filler has disappeared at one year.

Repeat treatment should follow reassessment of the result and remaining filler, rather than an automatic top-up schedule.

Risks and symptoms that need urgent care

Possible problems include swelling, bruising, pain, unevenness, lumps, infection and delayed inflammation. Authentic products and an experienced doctor cannot eliminate every risk. Accidental injection into a blood vessel is uncommon but can cause tissue death, vision loss or stroke.

Seek immediate medical assessment for unusual or worsening pain, or skin that turns white, grey, blue or mottled. Contact the treating doctor at once; if they are unavailable, go to an emergency department. Do not wait for a routine review.

Vision changes, sudden weakness or speech difficulty, trouble breathing, throat swelling or collapse require emergency hospital care immediately. Tell the emergency team that you have had filler. There is no guaranteed rescue window.

Looking after your chin

  • Follow the product-specific aftercare instructions. Ask when to resume strenuous exercise, heat exposure, makeup and other facial treatments.
  • Avoid pressing, massaging or trying to reshape the chin yourself unless your doctor gives specific instructions. Use any cold compress as advised without firm pressure.
  • Keep the injection area clean, drink normally and attend follow-up. Extra water does not guarantee a longer-lasting result.
  • Contact the clinic promptly about increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever or new persistent lumps. These need assessment rather than home massage.

What if the result is uneven or not what you expected?

Have it assessed before adding more filler. Swelling, existing filler, inflammation or a structural limitation can affect the result; a disappointing change does not automatically mean too little was used.

A doctor may consider dissolving HA filler with hyaluronidase. This has risks and may need more than one treatment. It cannot guarantee an exact return to your previous appearance or reverse every complication, particularly vision loss.

How much does chin filler cost in Thailand?

The total depends on the exact model, amount and services included. Request an itemized quote in baht and check whether the price is per cc or per syringe. Ask whether assessment, follow-up and any correction are included, and confirm the current terms before paying.

Choose a licensed clinic and appropriately trained doctor, and ask how urgent complications and hospital referral are handled. If you live in Thailand, also check that you can attend follow-up and receive instructions you understand. Do not choose on price or a promise of no swelling alone.

You can contact Smooth Clinic to ask about a chin assessment, current product options, pricing and follow-up arrangements.
