What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment used to improve skin quality, particularly hydration and mild skin laxity. It may soften the appearance of some fine lines, but it cannot promise a facelift or replace treatment for substantial volume loss.
The original Profhilo formulation combines high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HA). Its 2 mL presentation contains 64 mg of HA. IBSA’s NAHYCO® technology uses a thermal process without the chemical cross-linking agent BDDE. Being BDDE-free does not make an injection risk-free.
This article covers original Profhilo. Profhilo Body and Profhilo Structura are separate products; their treatment areas, techniques and study results should not be applied interchangeably.
What results can you expect?
Skin may look more hydrated and smoother after treatment. “Bio-remodeling” describes the product’s approach to skin quality; it does not guarantee a particular amount of new collagen, tighter pores or visible lifting.
Small studies have reported improvements in hydration or some wrinkles, but other measures did not improve consistently. These findings do not predict the same benefits or duration for everyone.
Profhilo is not an established treatment for whitening the skin or treating melasma. A hydrated appearance is different from changing skin colour.
Who might consider Profhilo?
It may suit adults concerned about dehydration, fine lines or mild skin laxity who want a subtle change in skin quality. Suitability depends on the skin concern and medical assessment, rather than starting treatment at a particular birthday.
Postpone injections if the area is infected, inflamed or has an open wound. Tell the doctor about previous reactions to injectable treatments, allergies, immune or bleeding conditions, medicines and recent procedures. Sensitive skin needs assessment too; a purified HA formulation cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, postpone elective cosmetic injections and discuss timing with your doctor. Safety in these groups has not been established.
What happens during treatment?
For facial treatment, the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) approach uses five reference points on each side. The doctor adapts treatment to your anatomy and the area being treated. Fewer injection points do not eliminate bruising or the risk of injury to a blood vessel.
You may feel stinging, pressure or tenderness. Temporary raised spots, swelling, redness or bruising can be visible afterwards, so leave recovery time before an important event.
IBSA’s Thailand product information describes original Profhilo for the face and neck. Other areas require a separate discussion of the exact product, local instructions and evidence; the facial injection pattern is not a plan for every body area.
How many sessions are needed, and how long does Profhilo last?
The manufacturer’s initial course is two treatments about a month apart. Your doctor should decide whether that approach fits your skin and when reassessment is useful.
Changes develop over the weeks after treatment and are not permanent. Published studies assess results at particular follow-up visits; they do not establish that everyone will benefit for six months. Review the response before deciding on maintenance rather than committing to a fixed schedule or adding sessions because of age alone.
Side effects and warning signs
Pain, redness, swelling, bruising and small bumps can occur. Recovery varies. Contact the clinic if a lump persists or symptoms worsen instead of assuming every reaction will settle within a few days.
Infection, allergic reactions and unintended injection into a blood vessel are important injection risks. Profhilo’s emphasis on skin quality does not remove them. General filler safety warnings help identify urgent symptoms, but they do not establish a Profhilo-specific complication rate.
- Seek emergency care immediately for unusual or increasing severe pain, pale, grey or blue skin near the injection site, or changes in vision.
- Seek emergency care for breathing difficulty, swelling of the tongue or throat, or faintness after a possible allergic reaction.
- Contact a doctor promptly for spreading redness, heat, worsening swelling, pus or fever.
Preparation and aftercare
Tell the doctor which medicines and supplements you take. Do not stop prescribed aspirin, blood thinners or other medication yourself; any change needs advice from the prescribing clinician.
After treatment, keep the area clean and avoid pressing or massaging injection sites unless your doctor gives specific instructions. Follow the clinic’s advice on makeup, exercise and heat exposure. Protect the treated skin from the sun, especially during the first few days.
If you are planning laser resurfacing, a peel, fillers or botulinum toxin, discuss the sequence before booking. The Profhilo instructions warn against concurrent laser resurfacing and medium-depth or deep peels. A seven-day gap is not a universal rule for all procedures.
Profhilo price at Smooth Clinic
The official Smooth Clinic price page, checked on 14 October 2026, lists:
- Profhilo 1 BOX: THB 25,000
- Profhilo 2 BOX: THB 45,000 total
These are listed box quantities, not a treatment plan. Confirm the current price, contents, number of visits and what the quote includes before booking. The page does not specify an offer expiry or whether consultation and follow-up fees are included.
For treatment in Thailand, ask to see the exact product name, sealed packaging, lot number, expiry date and importer details, and have the clinic verify its current Thai registration. Packaging alone is not proof of authenticity. Use a licensed clinic and a suitably trained doctor, with a clear route for follow-up if a problem develops.
Profhilo, other skin boosters and fillers
“Skin booster” covers several injectable formulations. Profhilo uses a particular HA complex; other products differ in ingredients, approved uses and clinical evidence. HA concentration alone cannot tell you which will work better or last longer.
Volume-focused fillers address a different concern, such as a hollow or a specific facial contour. Choose according to the problem being treated rather than assuming every HA injection is interchangeable. Our comparison of Belotero Revive, Skinvive and Flore Aqua-s explains some of the other skin-quality options.
You can contact Smooth Clinic to discuss suitability, the current quote and follow-up arrangements.
