What matters when comparing filler brands?
Compare the exact product, its intended use and its evidence, rather than choosing by brand, country or price alone. Juvederm, Restylane, E.P.T.Q. and Neuramis each have several products. A brand name does not tell you whether a particular filler suits your lips, under-eye hollows, cheeks or jawline.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers add volume using a gel made from a modified form of a substance naturally present in the body. HA is not collagen, and not every injectable filler is made from HA. Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA), and products combining materials need separate assessment. A treatment marketed as a skin booster may also have a different formulation and purpose from a volumising filler.
Juvederm, Restylane, E.P.T.Q. and Neuramis compared
| Brand | Useful product differences | What to check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Juvederm Allergan Aesthetics / AbbVie | The collection includes Hylacross and Vycross technologies with different gel properties. The Thai manufacturer website lists models including Voluma with lidocaine, Volbella with lidocaine and Volux. | Ask for the full model name. A claim about one Juvederm product or treatment area does not apply to the whole collection. |
| Restylane Galderma | The range includes NASHA and OBT/XpresHAn technologies. For example, the U.S. manufacturer identifies Lyft with NASHA and Kysse with XpresHAn. | Compare the specific model’s gel properties and intended use. Product names and authorisations can differ between markets. |
| E.P.T.Q. Jetema, South Korea | The manufacturer lists S100, S300 and S500 variants, including versions with lidocaine. These are HA products; the variant name matters. | Confirm the exact version, Thai product authorisation, intended use and syringe volume. Do not assume every E.P.T.Q. product is suitable for the same area. |
| Neuramis Medytox, South Korea | The HA range includes Light Lidocaine, Deep, Deep Lidocaine and Volume Lidocaine, among other variants. | Confirm which product is proposed, including whether it contains lidocaine. “Neuramis” alone does not establish suitability, duration or Thai authorisation. |
This is a comparison of product families, not a list of products currently stocked by Smooth Clinic. Manufacturer information from another country does not establish a product’s current Thai authorisation.
Does a softer or firmer filler work better?
Neither is automatically better. Doctors consider properties such as firmness, flexibility, cohesivity and water absorption alongside the tissue being treated. Cohesivity describes how the gel holds together; firmness and flexibility describe different aspects of its response to forces.
A gel’s laboratory measurements can help characterise it, but they do not by themselves predict a natural-looking result, fewer complications or longer duration. It is misleading to label an entire brand “soft”, “firm”, “best for thin skin” or “more natural”.
Which product suits lips, under-eyes or facial contours?
The treatment area and the exact model must be considered together. Discuss the concern first: adding lip volume, correcting a hollow and changing a facial contour are different goals. Tissue thickness, movement, previous treatment and the risks of the area also matter.
For example, Restylane Kysse’s U.S. label covers lip augmentation and upper perioral wrinkles in adults over 21. That is a product-specific U.S. indication, not permission to use every Restylane product in the lips or a statement of Thai approval. For treatment in Thailand, ask the doctor to show the Thai-authorised indication for the exact product proposed.
Which filler brand lasts longest?
There is no reliable brand-wide winner. Duration depends on the exact product, treatment area, amount used, study definition of improvement and individual response. Visible improvement and complete disappearance of material are not the same endpoint.
As one example, Juvederm’s Thai website cites results lasting up to 24 months for Voluma with lidocaine used in the cheeks, based on a particular clinical study with an initial treatment and, for many participants, a touch-up. This is not a promise for every patient, every Juvederm model or another facial area. It also does not prove superiority over products studied in different ways.
Ask what evidence supports the expected duration for your proposed model and area, whether a touch-up was included, and when reassessment would be appropriate. A firmer gel or a higher price does not establish that it will last longer.
Are Korean fillers different from American or European fillers?
Country of origin is not a dependable shortcut for safety or quality. Products from the same country can differ substantially, and the country associated with a brand is not necessarily the manufacturing location of every product.
Compare the exact formulation, relevant clinical evidence, Thai authorisation and supply chain. A lower price alone does not prove a product is counterfeit; a premium brand does not eliminate procedural risks.
How should you compare filler prices in Thailand?
Request an itemised, current quote rather than relying on a general price range by brand. Compare:
- Full product name: including the model and version.
- Quantity: the volume per syringe and total proposed volume. One cc equals one mL, but syringes are not universally the same size.
- Total cost in Thai baht: whether consultation, treatment, follow-up, any touch-up and applicable taxes are included.
- Offer conditions: expiry date, package requirements and charges for further treatment.
Contact Smooth Clinic for an assessment and current product-specific quote. Confirm availability and follow-up arrangements before booking.
How can you check a filler before treatment?
- Ask for the exact product name and Thai FDA authorisation details, and check the current record for that product.
- Check the labelled importer, lot or batch number, expiry date and sealed packaging. Ask to see the product before it is used and keep its details with your treatment record.
- If a verification code is provided, use the manufacturer’s or authorised importer’s genuine verification channel. A QR code or convincing box alone is not proof of authenticity.
- Choose a licensed clinic and licensed doctor, and ask about their experience and emergency referral arrangements.
The Thai FDA advises checking the authorised indication as well as the product’s authorisation. U.S. FDA approval, overseas marketing, an old registration entry or a missing search result cannot by themselves settle a product’s current Thai status.
What risks and recovery time should you consider?
Swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness can occur. Some reactions settle within days; others take weeks or need treatment. Lumps, infection, delayed inflammation and allergic reactions are also possible. Do not plan around a guarantee of “no downtime” or swelling resolving in one to three days.
Tell the doctor about previous filler, allergies including lidocaine reactions, medicines, bleeding problems and any infection or inflammation. Discuss postponing elective treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Follow the product-specific aftercare and arrange follow-up, especially if travelling after treatment.
Rare vascular complications can damage tissue or cause blindness or stroke. Severe or unusual pain, pale skin, or dusky or mottled discolouration after filler needs immediate medical assessment. If the treating doctor cannot assess you immediately, go to an emergency department.
Vision changes, eye pain, facial drooping, weakness, difficulty speaking, breathing difficulty or collapse require emergency hospital care immediately. Explain that you have had filler. Do not wait for a routine appointment or delay transfer for clinic treatment. Prompt care matters, but recovery cannot be guaranteed.
Can all filler brands be dissolved?
Hyaluronidase can break down HA filler, but correction may be incomplete and has its own risks. It does not dissolve CaHA, PLLA or PDLLA in the same way; removing the HA component of a combination product does not remove its other ingredients. Read about dissolving HA filler and its limitations before treating reversibility as a reason to proceed. Never buy or inject filler or dissolving medicine yourself.
