Restylane includes several hyaluronic acid gels with different uses. This guide explains the main models, realistic duration, cost questions and safety checks for treatment in Thailand. The right option depends on your concern, the exact formulation and its Thai-authorised use.

Insight Guide About Restylane Filler: Types, Cost and Safety in Thailand

What is Restylane filler?

Restylane is Galderma’s range of injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gels. Depending on the exact product, treatment may add volume, soften certain folds, change contours or improve skin quality. Results are temporary, and different Restylane products are not interchangeable.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, but an injectable gel has different properties and risks from HA skincare. A naturally occurring ingredient does not make filler treatment risk-free.

Which Restylane types are there?

The range varies by country. These examples explain product differences using U.S. and Canadian manufacturer instructions. They are not a list of products currently stocked by Smooth Clinic or a confirmation of Thai authorisation.

Exact productUse described in the overseas labelImportant distinction
Restylane KysseU.S.: lip enhancement and wrinkles above the lips.Designed for the lip area; its evidence does not apply to every Restylane model.
Restylane RefyneU.S.: moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.A flexible gel; softness alone does not determine suitability.
Restylane DefyneU.S.: moderate to severe deep facial folds and improving the profile of a mildly to moderately receding chin.Different properties and indications from Refyne; neither is best for everyone.
Restylane Lyft with LidocaineU.S.: facial folds, cheek and age-related midface volume correction, back-of-hand volume loss and mild to moderate chin retrusion. This exact formulation’s label does not establish a general jawline indication.
Restylane EyelightU.S.: improving under-eye hollows.Hollows are different from pigmentation, puffiness or eye bags.
Restylane Skinboosters Vital LidocaineCanada: improving skin smoothness, appearance and elasticity in the lower cheek/jawline and backs of the hands.Skin-quality treatment differs from structural volume enhancement.
Restylane Skinboosters Vital Light LidocaineCanada: improving skin elasticity in the lower cheek/jawline and upper neck.A different formulation and treatment scope from Vital Lidocaine.

The U.S. examples above are for adults over 21. Before treatment in Thailand, confirm the full product name, current Thai authorisation, permitted use and age criteria. Restylane, Restylane with lidocaine and other named variants should not be treated as equivalent simply because they share a brand.

What do NASHA and OBT mean?

These are gel-manufacturing technologies used within the range. NASHA products generally provide firmer support; OBT, called XpresHAn in the U.S., allows flexibility with movement. Technology names help describe a gel, but do not by themselves predict the best result, longest duration or lowest risk.

Which Restylane is right for you?

Start with the change you want: fuller lips, a softer fold, correction of a hollow or improved skin texture. A doctor should assess your anatomy, existing filler, health history and realistic alternatives before choosing a product and amount.

Filler cannot correct every cause of an aged or tired appearance. For example, adding volume under the eyes does not remove eye bags or directly treat pigmentation. More filler is not always helpful, and choosing no procedure is a valid option.

How much does Restylane cost in Thailand?

Cost depends on the exact model, total volume and services included. Ask whether the price is per cc or per syringe, and confirm the syringe size: one cc equals one mL, but not every syringe contains the same volume.

Request a current total in Thai baht covering the consultation, product, treatment and follow-up. Check any package conditions and whether a later adjustment or corrective treatment costs extra. There is no standard number of cc for everyone, even when treating the same area.

How long does Restylane last?

Duration varies with the product, treatment area and individual response. In U.S. label studies, lip improvement with Kysse continued through 48 weeks for many participants, while improvement of under-eye hollows with Eyelight continued through 12 months for many participants. Both studies allowed an initial touch-up.

These are product- and area-specific findings, not guaranteed timelines. Visible benefit can fade while some material remains. Have the area reassessed before repeat treatment rather than automatically topping up on a fixed schedule.

Who should delay treatment or avoid it?

  • Active infection or inflammation near the injection site: postpone treatment until the area has been assessed and treated. Tell the doctor about cold sores, especially before lip treatment.
  • Severe allergies or reactions to filler ingredients: discuss these before choosing a product. Contraindications can include anaphylaxis, certain bacterial proteins and lidocaine or related local anaesthetics.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: postpone elective cosmetic treatment because safety has not been established.
  • Bleeding disorders, immune-suppressing treatment or abnormal scarring: these need assessment; individual products have different restrictions.

Tell the doctor about medicines, supplements, previous filler and procedures in the area. Some medicines increase bruising or bleeding, but do not stop prescribed medicine yourself.

What happens at the appointment, and does it hurt?

The doctor assesses the area, discusses options and risks, checks the product, prepares the skin and gives the injections. Pain relief depends on the formulation and treatment. Some products contain lidocaine, but discomfort, stinging or pressure can still occur.

Allow time for assessment and aftercare as well as injection. Agree on a review appointment and an urgent-contact plan. If English is your preferred language, ask how the consultation and written instructions will be explained before booking.

What risks and recovery time should you expect?

Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness are common. Many reactions improve within days to weeks, but persistent lumps, infection, delayed inflammation and allergic reactions can require treatment. Do not plan around a promise of no downtime or all swelling settling within three days.

Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel and cause tissue damage, blindness or stroke. Genuine products and an experienced injector cannot eliminate this risk.

  • Unusual or severe pain, pale skin, or dusky or mottled discolouration: seek immediate medical assessment. Go to an emergency department if the treating doctor cannot assess you immediately.
  • Vision changes, eye pain, facial drooping, weakness, trouble speaking, breathing difficulty, tongue or throat swelling, or collapse: seek emergency hospital care immediately. Explain that you have had filler. Do not wait for a routine appointment or delay hospital transfer for clinic treatment.
  • Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, fever, discharge or persistent lumps: contact the doctor promptly for assessment.

Can Restylane be dissolved?

A doctor may use hyaluronidase to break down HA filler, but removal can be incomplete and the medicine has its own risks, including allergy. It cannot guarantee your previous appearance or reverse every complication, including lost vision. Read about filler dissolving and its limitations before treating reversibility as a reason to proceed.

How should you care for the area afterwards?

  • Follow the treating doctor’s product-specific instructions. Do not press, rub or massage the area unless advised.
  • Ask when to resume makeup, exercise, alcohol, heat exposure and other skin treatments. Avoid excessive sun and temperature extremes while swelling and redness remain.
  • For mild swelling, use only the compress method recommended by the clinic. Do not use compresses to delay assessment of unusual pain or colour changes.
  • Attend follow-up and allow early swelling to settle before judging symmetry or requesting more filler.

How can you check genuine Restylane in Thailand?

Ask to see the actual box and syringe before treatment. Check the full model name, sealed packaging, lot number, expiry date, Thai label, importer and accompanying instructions. Ask for the relevant Thai FDA medical-device authorisation details and the authorised treatment indication.

Galderma Thailand describes scanning the box’s Data Matrix through eZTracker to check its authorised supply chain. Use this alongside the label and documentation; a convincing box or barcode alone is not enough. Check that both the clinic and treating doctor are licensed, and keep the product details with your treatment record.

How does Restylane compare with Juvederm?

Both brands include different HA gels. Compare specific products intended for the same concern rather than assuming one whole brand is softer, safer or longer-lasting. Our filler brand comparison explains which differences matter.

For an assessment and current product-specific quote, contact Smooth Clinic. Confirm availability, the proposed model, total cost and follow-up arrangements before deciding.
