What can a Botox face lift actually do?
A Botox face lift uses botulinum toxin to reduce the downward pull of selected muscles around the lower face and neck. Relaxing the platysma, the thin sheet of muscle in this area, may make the jawline look more defined in suitable patients.
The term Nefertiti lift describes treatment focused on the jawline and platysma. The effect comes from muscle relaxation. It does not lift all the facial tissues or reproduce a surgical facelift.
Who may benefit, and what will it not fix?
It may suit people whose jawline is affected by muscle pull, with reasonably elastic skin and little excess tissue. A doctor should assess the face at rest and during movement; age alone does not determine suitability.
- Double-chin fat: botulinum toxin does not dissolve fat under the chin.
- Loose skin or pronounced jowls: reducing muscle pull may make little difference when excess skin or tissue is the main problem.
- Lost volume or bone structure: it does not replace facial volume or reshape the jawbone, so a V-shaped result cannot be promised.
If loose skin is the main concern, compare treatment options for sagging skin. Energy-based treatments may help selected cases of mild laxity; substantial excess skin may need a surgical assessment. Choosing no procedure is also reasonable.
How is it different from jaw-slimming Botox?
Both use botulinum toxin, but the target and intended result are different.

Combining the two is not necessary for everyone. The assessment should consider chewing, smiling and how reducing muscle volume may affect the facial contour. Teeth grinding requires a separate assessment rather than a cosmetic treatment recommendation.
Which product should you choose in Thailand?
BOTOX is a specific brand, although the word is often used loosely for botulinum toxin treatments. Products have different labels and their units are not interchangeable. No brand name alone guarantees a better lift, natural-looking result or lower risk.
The Thai BOTOX record reviewed lists improvement in the appearance of adult jaw and neck muscles. The reviewed Neuronox record lists frown-line treatment among its cosmetic uses, but does not list cosmetic jawline or neck lifting. A product’s registration does not mean every proposed use is covered. If a treatment is outside its label, the doctor should explain the evidence, uncertainties, risks and alternatives.
Confirm the exact product currently offered and ask to see its packaging, Thai registration, batch and expiry details. A registration number or QR code alone cannot establish that an individual vial is genuine.
How much does a Botox face lift cost?
The total depends on the product, treatment area, amount used and clinic fees. Ask for a current written quote showing what the treatment and follow-up include. Comparing price per unit across different brands can be misleading because their units are not equivalent.

When will results appear, and how long will they last?
Changes develop gradually rather than immediately. Results are often assessed around two weeks after treatment and last for several months, with variation between products and individuals. Studies of onabotulinumtoxinA for platysma prominence found improvement in selected patients, but this does not establish a seven-day facelift or a six-month result for everyone.
Repeat treatment should follow reassessment and the specific product’s guidance. There is no universal schedule for a “Botox face lift,” and extra injections should not be used to chase an immediate result. A disappointing response does not by itself prove toxin resistance.
Who should avoid or postpone treatment?
- Do not proceed if you have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or its ingredients, or an infection at the proposed injection site.
- Neuromuscular conditions, including myasthenia gravis or Lambert–Eaton syndrome, and existing swallowing or breathing problems need particular medical assessment.
- Postpone cosmetic treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding and discuss it with your doctor; safety information is limited.
- Tell the doctor about bleeding problems, medicines and supplements, recent toxin injections and other facial procedures. Some antibiotics and muscle relaxants can increase toxin effects.
Do not stop prescribed medicines, including aspirin or anticoagulants, on your own. Any change needs advice from the clinician who manages them.
What are the possible side effects?
Pain, redness, swelling or bruising can occur. Unwanted weakness may affect the smile, chewing or neck strength, and results may be uneven. Contact the treating doctor about these symptoms or worsening local pain, redness or swelling; correct technique does not eliminate every risk.
Seek urgent medical help for trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, widespread weakness or double vision. Toxin effects can extend beyond the intended muscles, with symptoms appearing hours to weeks after injection. Hives with facial or throat swelling, breathing difficulty or faintness may indicate a serious allergic reaction and also need emergency care.
What happens during treatment and recovery?
After assessment and skin cleansing, the doctor gives the injections. You may feel brief needle discomfort and can discuss pain relief beforehand. Many people return to everyday activities quickly, but swelling or bruising may affect plans for an important event.
- Avoid rubbing, pressing or massaging the treated area.
- Follow the treating doctor’s advice about exercise, heat, alcohol and other procedures in the same area.
- Attend the agreed review and report unexpected symptoms rather than arranging an immediate top-up.
Drinking extra water or sleeping with your head elevated does not guarantee that the toxin stays in place or that results last longer.
