What can nasolabial fold filler improve?
Nasolabial fold filler adds volume to soften the creases between the nose and the corners of the mouth. Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is one option, but the right approach depends on the fold, surrounding facial support and any previous treatment.
The aim is a less prominent crease, not necessarily a completely flat area. Folds are a normal facial feature, and removing every line may require too much volume. Results and symmetry vary; a natural-looking outcome cannot be guaranteed.
If loose skin or facial movement is the main concern, filling the line alone may give limited improvement. Threads and energy-based treatments have different purposes and risks. Ultrasound treatments such as Ultherapy PRIME are not lasers. An assessment should establish whether filler, another approach or no treatment suits you.
How much filler is needed? Is 1 cc enough?
There is no standard amount for everyone. One cc equals one mL, but neither your age nor the depth of a line in a photograph can determine how much you need.
The doctor should assess your tissues, asymmetry, product choice and any filler already present, then explain the proposed total amount. A package size is not a treatment target. Avoid adding more simply to erase a normal fold or use up a promotion.
How much does nasolabial fold filler cost in Thailand?
Ask for a current, itemised quote for your treatment plan. A price per cc is only useful when you know the exact product and total amount being proposed.
- Confirm the full brand and model name, and whether the price is per cc, per syringe or for a package.
- Check the syringe volume and the total cost in Thai baht.
- Ask whether assessment, numbing, review appointments and any touch-up are included.
- Check promotion conditions and charges for additional or corrective treatment.

Which filler brand or model should you choose?
No brand is best for every nasolabial fold. Products within the same range can differ in gel properties, ingredients and intended use. A softer gel does not guarantee fewer lumps, and a firmer gel does not automatically last longer.
Ask the doctor why the exact model suits your concern. Check its Thai authorisation and intended use, labelled importer, batch number, expiry date and packaging before treatment. An overseas approval does not establish Thai approval, and an authentic product still carries injection risks.

What should you discuss before treatment?
Tell the doctor about previous filler or facial procedures, allergies, medical conditions and medicines or supplements. Severe allergies, lidocaine allergy, bleeding problems and immunosuppressive treatment need particular attention. Do not stop prescribed blood-thinning medicine on your own.
Postpone injections into an area with active infection, sores or inflammation until it has been assessed and treated. Discuss postponing elective filler during pregnancy or breastfeeding because safety information is limited. The doctor must also check the specific product’s contraindications.
Choose a licensed clinic and doctor. Before agreeing, make sure you understand the expected change, risks and follow-up arrangements, including whom to contact after hours and how an emergency referral would work.
What happens during treatment, and does it hurt?
After assessment and a discussion of your goals, the doctor cleans the skin and may use a numbing cream or a filler containing local anaesthetic. Stinging, pressure or soreness can still occur.
The doctor may use a needle or cannula according to the treatment plan. A blunt cannula does not eliminate the risk of a blocked blood vessel. There is no single instrument or injection approach that makes treatment risk-free.
When will the result settle, and how long does it last?
You may notice added volume immediately, but early swelling can distort the result. Bruising, tenderness and swelling can take days to weeks to settle. Allow for visible recovery when planning work, travel or an important event, and attend the agreed review.
Duration depends on the exact product and your response. For example, the U.S. patient information for Restylane Refyne describes improvement in nasolabial folds lasting up to 12 months in a study that allowed touch-ups. This is not a guarantee for everyone, a duration for all Restylane products or evidence of Thai approval.
A follow-up appointment does not automatically mean you need more filler. Have the remaining result, swelling and any lumps assessed before another injection rather than topping up on a fixed schedule.
What are the risks, and when is it an emergency?
Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness are possible. Lumps, infection, delayed inflammation and allergic reactions can also occur. Accidental injection into a blood vessel is uncommon but may cause skin damage, blindness or stroke.
- Unusual or severe pain, pale skin, or grey, blue or mottled discolouration: seek immediate medical assessment. If the injecting doctor cannot assess you immediately, go to an emergency department.
- Blurred, double or lost vision, eye pain, facial drooping, weakness or difficulty speaking: get emergency hospital care immediately and explain that you have had filler. Do not delay transfer for treatment at the clinic.
- Breathing difficulty, tongue or throat swelling, faintness or collapse: get emergency help immediately.
Does every lump need dissolving?
No. A lump may reflect swelling, filler placement, inflammation or infection. Increasing redness, warmth, pain, fever or discharge needs prompt assessment. Do not squeeze or massage a lump to correct it yourself.
A doctor may consider dissolving unwanted HA filler with hyaluronidase. The response varies, further treatment may be needed, and the medicine can cause allergic reactions. It does not dissolve non-HA materials in the same way or guarantee your original appearance. Dissolving cannot reliably reverse every complication, including lost vision.
How should you care for the area afterwards?
- Keep the area clean and avoid pressing, rubbing or massaging it unless your doctor specifically instructs you to.
- Follow the product-specific advice about strenuous exercise, strong sun, heat and alcohol during early recovery.
- Ask when you can apply makeup and resume skincare, laser treatments or other facial procedures.
- Use compresses only as advised. They are not a substitute for assessment of the warning signs above.
