Insight Guide About Radiesse Plus: Benefits, Results, Risks and Cost

What is Radiesse Plus?

Radiesse Plus, labelled RADIESSE® (+) Lidocaine, is an injectable filler containing calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel carrier and 0.3% lidocaine. It can add volume and support collagen formation. It is a temporary treatment for selected facial concerns, not a surgical facelift.

The gel provides initial filling, while the tissue response develops over time. CaHA is not hyaluronic acid (HA), and the options for correcting an unwanted result are different.

How does Radiesse Plus differ from Radiesse?

Both contain CaHA. The Plus formulation includes lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that reduces injection discomfort. It does not make treatment painless, prevent allergy or eliminate bruising and swelling. Additional pain relief may still be appropriate.

Small tissue studies suggest collagen and elastin changes after CaHA treatment, but they do not predict an exact collagen increase or visible facial result for everyone.

Which areas can Radiesse Plus treat?

The U.S. Plus label covers moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, and moderate-to-severe loss of jawline contour in adults over 21. The appropriate area and amount depend on a medical assessment.

  • Jawline and facial folds: treatment may improve contour or soften selected folds, but adding volume cannot address every cause of sagging.
  • Chin, temples, neck, hands and body: do not assume that every commonly advertised use is included in the Plus label. Ask about the exact product, local indication, evidence and any off-label use.
  • Lips and around the eyes: the Plus label does not establish safety and effectiveness in these areas. Lip nodules have been reported. Nose and forehead injections also require particular caution because of vascular risks.

In March 2026, the U.S. FDA expanded the indication of Radiesse without lidocaine, used in a specified diluted form, to décolleté wrinkles. That approval should not be transferred to Radiesse Plus or to neck treatment. U.S. approval also does not establish Thai authorization: check the Thai label and current product details before treatment in Thailand.

Radiesse Plus vs HA fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers vary in firmness, formulation and intended use. Neither material is universally better, longer-lasting or more natural-looking.

FeatureHA fillersRadiesse Plus
Main materialHyaluronic acid gel; properties vary by productCaHA microspheres in a gel carrier, with lidocaine
SwellingHA binds water; injection-related swelling is also possibleSwelling can occur despite its different composition
Treatment goalVolume, contour or skin-quality improvement, depending on the productFilling and contouring, with evidence of collagen stimulation
DurationDepends on the exact product, area and individual responseVaries; a fixed 12–24-month result cannot be promised
Correction optionsMay respond to hyaluronidase, with limitations and risksCaHA is not dissolved by hyaluronidase

The distinction matters before choosing treatment. Filler dissolving with hyaluronidase is not a reversal method for CaHA, and even HA removal cannot guarantee an exact return to your previous appearance or undo every complication.

A doctor may consider different products for different concerns. Combining procedures needs a specific plan, including their timing and risks, rather than a standard combination for everyone.

When will results appear, and how long do they last?

Some filling may be visible soon after injection, but early swelling can obscure the result. Tissue changes develop over weeks to months. Results depend on the treatment area, technique, amount used and individual response.

A Radiesse Plus jawline trial found improvement in some patients at 48 weeks, with touch-ups permitted. Its longer follow-up also included patients who received repeat treatment. This does not establish that one session lasts 12–24 months in every area. Reassess the result before deciding whether more treatment is needed.

Who should avoid or postpone treatment?

Suitability depends on anatomy, health history and realistic expectations. Thin skin, previous laser treatment or dissatisfaction with HA filler does not by itself make Radiesse Plus suitable.

  • Do not use it with labelled contraindications: a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies, allergy to a component or to lidocaine/amide-type anaesthetics, or a bleeding disorder.
  • Postpone injections near active infection or inflammation: have the problem assessed and treated until it is controlled.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: safety has not been established; discuss postponing elective treatment.
  • Tell the doctor: about autoimmune or connective-tissue conditions, unusual scarring, cold sores, medicines, supplements and previous treatments in the area.

Medicines such as aspirin or anticoagulants may increase bruising or bleeding. Do not stop prescribed medicine yourself; discuss any change with the prescribing clinician.

What happens during treatment and recovery?

The appointment should include assessment, an explanation of alternatives and risks, product checks, injection and a follow-up plan. Needle or cannula choice depends on the procedure; neither removes vascular risk. Treatment time and discomfort vary.

Allow for swelling, redness, tenderness, itching or bruising. These can last days to weeks, and a lump or worsening symptom should be assessed rather than assumed to settle on a fixed schedule.

  • Follow the treating doctor’s aftercare advice. Minimize strong sun and heat for about 24 hours, or until initial redness and swelling settle.
  • Do not press or massage a lump yourself. Massage only if the doctor specifically instructs you how and when.
  • Ask when to resume strenuous exercise, makeup and other skin procedures. Laser treatments or peels in the same area need coordinated timing.
  • Keep follow-up appointments. Tell a radiologist about prior CaHA injections if you have imaging, because the material can appear on CT scans or X-rays.

What are the risks and emergency warning signs?

Infection, persistent or delayed inflammatory lumps and allergic reactions are possible. Genuine product and an experienced injector reduce avoidable risks but do not make treatment risk-free.

Accidental injection into a blood vessel can interrupt circulation and cause tissue death, blindness or stroke.

  • Get immediate medical help: unusual or worsening severe pain, pale skin, or dusky or mottled skin after injection. Do not wait for a routine appointment.
  • Seek emergency hospital care immediately: any vision change, facial drooping, weakness or difficulty speaking. Breathing difficulty, throat or tongue swelling, faintness or collapse also needs emergency help.
  • Contact the treating doctor promptly: increasing warmth, redness or swelling, fever, discharge or a persistent lump.

How much does Radiesse Plus cost?

The Thai version of this article previously listed these approximate package prices:

  • 39,990 THB for 1 box
  • 59,900 THB for 2 boxes

Confirm the current total and exactly what each box includes before booking. Ask about product volume, doctor’s fees, anaesthesia, follow-up and any additional procedures. The number of boxes should follow assessment, rather than a package discount.

What should you check before treatment in Thailand?

  • Choose a licensed clinic and doctor with relevant injection experience and an emergency referral plan.
  • Check the exact product name, Thai label, importer and authorization details, batch number and expiry date. Packaging should be intact; syringes must not be shared between patients.
  • Ask for an explanation you understand, including expected benefits, off-label use if relevant, correction limitations and follow-up arrangements.

For a consultation or a current quote, contact Smooth Clinic. Confirm the proposed product and plan before committing to treatment.
