What is Skinvive?
Skinvive by Juvéderm is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel used to improve skin quality. Its U.S. formulation contains cross-linked HA 12 mg/mL and lidocaine 0.3%. It targets skin smoothness rather than facial reshaping, but it is still a filler injection with potential complications.
“Microdroplet” describes placing small droplets of gel in the skin. It does not mean HA enters skin cells or that treatment cannot cause swelling or bumps. Injectable HA also differs from HA in skincare products.
What can it improve, and where?
The current U.S. indications apply to adults over 21:
- Cheeks: improving skin smoothness with injections into the skin.
- Neck: reducing neck lines to improve neck appearance, an indication added by the U.S. FDA on 11 June 2026.
These approvals do not establish Thai registration or authorize treatment everywhere on the face. For treatment in Thailand, ask the doctor to check the exact product, local instructions and proposed area. Do not assume under-eye, forehead or full-face treatment has the same evidence.
Skinvive is not an established treatment for acne, skin whitening or a sharper jawline. Pore reduction and lifting should not be promised.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
The U.S. cheek study assessed its main result one month after the initial injection or an optional touch-up. Improvement in cheek smoothness was observed through six months in some participants. That is not a guarantee of six to nine months from one session.
Early fullness can include swelling. Your doctor should assess the result after it settles and decide whether a touch-up or later repeat treatment is appropriate. There is no single volume or maintenance schedule that suits everyone.
Is Skinvive suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin?
Sensitive, oily or dry skin alone does not determine suitability. Postpone injections into an area with active acne, a rash, inflammation or infection until it has been assessed and treated or controlled.
The U.S. label contraindicates treatment for people with a history of anaphylaxis, multiple severe allergies, or allergies to lidocaine or the bacterial proteins that may remain in the gel. Safety during pregnancy, breastfeeding and below age 22 has not been established.
Tell your doctor about previous reactions to HA or local anaesthetics, raised scars, epilepsy, porphyria (a group of disorders affecting how the body makes haem), and immune-suppressing treatment. Also tell them about medicines, supplements and previous cosmetic procedures. Local product instructions may include additional exclusions. Do not stop prescribed medicines yourself.
What are the side effects and warning signs?
Swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, itching and lumps can occur. Many reactions settle, but some last longer or develop later. Contact the treating doctor promptly for worsening redness, heat, swelling, persistent lumps, pus or fever.
Accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause tissue damage, blindness or stroke. Seek emergency care immediately for unusual or severe pain, pale, grey or blue skin, vision changes, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking. Breathing difficulty or swelling of the tongue or throat also needs emergency care.
HA may be treated with hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate, but correction has risks and cannot reliably reverse every complication. Read about dissolving HA filler and its limitations.
What should I expect before and after treatment?
The consultation should cover your skin concerns, alternatives, risks, product choice and follow-up. Ask how discomfort will be managed and leave time for visible swelling or bruising before work or an event.
The manufacturer’s Thai patient information advises avoiding makeup for 12 hours, strenuous activity for 24 hours and saunas for two weeks. The U.S. directions also advise avoiding alcohol and extensive sun or heat exposure for the first 24 hours. Follow the instructions for the product and area actually treated.
Use gentle skincare and sun protection. Ask before massaging the area or scheduling lasers, peels or other procedures; do not assume same-day combinations are suitable. Injections do not replace everyday skincare.
Is Skinvive the same as Volite?
FDA records say Skinvive is marketed as Juvéderm Volite in some countries outside the U.S. They distinguish Volite versions with and without lidocaine. The names are not interchangeable across every formulation and market, and Skinvive should not simply be described as a lighter or shallower-injected alternative.

Smooth Clinic’s price page lists Skinvive at THB 13,900 for 1 CC and THB 25,000 for 2 CC. These are listed pricing options, not a recommended dose. Confirm the current quote and whether assessment, anaesthetic, follow-up and any touch-up are included before booking.
Before treatment, ask to see the sealed product, Thai labelling, importer details, registration information, batch number and expiry date. Packaging appearance alone cannot establish authenticity. Choose a licensed doctor and clinic with a clear plan for managing complications.
